Know your assessments!
We are quickly reaching our big assessment time of year!  Starting halfway through March and ending in May, many of our students will take numerous assessments and exams.  These are each important in helping us better understand the educational needs of each and every one of our students.  So if you have any big trips coming up or need to make appointments for your kids, it would be extremely helpful if you e-mailed their teachers or checked the table below for upcoming test dates.  *Not all students take the following exams, but know that your child will likely take several of these before the end of the school year!
CMAS - Colorado Measures of Academic Success:  These are state standardized tests required to be taken by students in 3rd-11th grade in Colorado.  They include a series of reading and math tests, sometimes accompanied by science or social studies exams.  These tell us the overall progress of your child's education and aid in the budgeting decisions for schools across the state.  These exams tell us a lot about how your kids are doing, but results are not released until the following school year!
Galileo - District-11 provides this exam as a formative assessment, to determine the progress of your student throughout the school year.  Students take this assessment 2-3 times per year and gives our teachers immediate results about how your kids are doing with grade-specific materials, allowing us to adjust our teaching techniques accordingly!
DIBELS  - Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills:  A progress monitoring tool that checks up on each and every individual's abilities by analyzing key components of their reading.  These tests vary based on ability, but have most students testing weekly or several times per month.  These keep us in compliance with the Colorado READ Act and keeps us very aware about the reading strengths and weaknesses of each child!
ACCESS - Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State: This exam is for English Language Learning (ELL) students to determine the level of services required to help them learn and understand English.  This assessment is given once per year to examine each student's progress.

Calling all Volunteers!

Would you like to volunteer at McAuliffe Elementary this school year?  We are always in need of volunteers to help out in our classrooms, in the library, on field trips, and for other events throughout the school year.  District 11 policy requires all volunteers to complete a Volunteer Registration Form.  Click here to begin your Volunteer Registration.

All registration forms must be printed and brought into the McAuliffe office, along with a picture ID, to complete the volunteer registration process.  If you do not have access to a computer and/or printer, you may complete your volunteer registration form at McAuliffe.
If you have previously completed a Volunteer Registration form, there is no need to complete another one.  The office can check to see if you are still a registered volunteer.  If you have questions regarding the volunteer registration process or volunteer opportunities at McAuliffe, please call the office at 228-0900.
School Uniforms:
All students are expected to adhere to uniform policy at all times. Uniforms consist of beige khaki pants, shorts, or school appropriate skirts (no navy blue) along with a black, white, navy, or light blue shirt with a collar and no logo. There is no required brand for any part of the uniform. Special days will be designated as non-uniform days (picture day, pajama day, Halloween, etc.). On colder days, turtlenecks and sweaters that adhere to uniform colors are allowed.
For uniform assistance contact  the office at 719-228-0900
Car Pool:
Do you need help getting your children to and from school?  The Colorado Springs Transit Service provides the Metro Rides' School pool Program.  It is a free matching service to help parents find local car pools to aid in getting their kids to and from school.
