Testing.jpgAs we come closer to the end of the year, many of our students will take part in important standardized testing.  Several grades will take multiple tests before the end of the year and we wanted to clear up any confusing acronyms and to keep you in the loop about what these tests are and what they are used for.  While all of these tests are important to see our effectiveness as a school and as a district, we are more concerned with using them as a way to meet the needs of our students.  So please help your child with a good night's rest, a good breakfast to start the day, and help encourage them to do their best.
PARCC - The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (Formerly CSAP and TCAP)
This is a online exam given to 3rd - 11th graders in the state of Colorado.
Students will take several days of math and reading tests during March, then again in May.
CMAS - Colorado Measures of Academic Success.  A state-wide online exam given to select grades
(4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, and high school).  Our 4th graders will be taking the Social Studies Exam
and our 5th graders will be taking the Science Exam.  These will take place in April.
MAP - Measures of Academic Progress.  District-11 expects each school in the district to have an
assessment in place to monitor the overall progress of our students.  So McAuliffe has chosen
to continue to use the online MAP test for our yearly analysis.  Our students will take this three
times a year, including this upcoming spring.  All grades, K-5th take this test, and the results
helps our teachers determine the strengths and weaknesses of each student in reading and math.
These will take place in April.
DIBELS Next - Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills.  Colorado law requires that students be
monitored on their reading progress.  Students who struggle with reading, need increased
support and DIBELS gives our teachers the data needed to help our students with different
aspects of reading.  Students are benchmarked at the beginning of the school year and
are regularly progress monitored to look for proficiency or to identify gaps in their reading.
Calling all Volunteers!

Would you like to volunteer at McAuliffe Elementary this school year?  We are always in need of volunteers to help out in our classrooms, in the library, on field trips, and for other events throughout the school year.  District 11 policy requires all volunteers to complete a Volunteer Registration Form.  Click here to begin your Volunteer Registration.

All registration forms must be printed and brought into the McAuliffe office, along with a picture ID, to complete the volunteer registration process.  If you do not have access to a computer and/or printer, you may complete your volunteer registration form at McAuliffe.
If you have previously completed a Volunteer Registration form, there is no need to complete another one.  The office can check to see if you are still a registered volunteer.  If you have questions regarding the volunteer registration process or volunteer opportunities at McAuliffe, please call the office at 228-0900.
School Uniforms:
All students are expected to adhere to uniform policy at all times. Uniforms consist of beige khaki pants, shorts, or school appropriate skirts (no navy blue) along with a black, white, navy, or light blue shirt with a collar and no logo. There is no required brand for any part of the uniform. Special days will be designated as non-uniform days (picture day, pajama day, Halloween, etc.). On colder days, turtlenecks and sweaters that adhere to uniform colors are allowed.
For uniform assistance contact  the office at 719-228-0900
Car Pool:
Do you need help getting your children to and from school?  The Colorado Springs Transit Service provides the Metro Rides' School pool Program.  It is a free matching service to help parents find local car pools to aid in getting their kids to and from school.
